Balboa Park Engagement at the Prado! Gretchen & Scott! San Diego Wedding photography

February 27

Have you ever heard the term “couples dates”? This is when as adults you and your significant other meet new people and HOPE you like not just one half of the couple but BOTH of them.  Well my engagement session with Gretchen and Scott was one of those unplanned couples dates. Let me explain.  A few days before I had broken my hand in several places. So driving an hour on vicodin and carrying tons of gear was NOT an option for me. Neither was canceling on one of my clients. SO my superhero hubby jumped in and offered to help. Little did I know that this engagement session was more of a amazing new friendship for both of us.

I had met Gretchen previously, but this was my first time meeting Scott. I liked Scott instantly. I knew that this couple was going to be exactly what I hope ALL my wedding clients will be – future friends who I get to share there wedding day with. Not only are these two ridiculously fun & nice , but also absolutely in love – and that made my job easy peasy.

The topper – they took us out to dinner at the Prado! Best couples first date ever? I think so!

Gretchen & Scott – I CAN.NOT.WAIT for your wedding day! P.S thanks for the night out!

Heading off to the land of inspiration … wppi 2011

February 18

In less than 2 days I will heading off and leaving my hubby at home to do something I have been looking forward to for the last 10+ months – wppi 2011. For those of you who have no idea what on earth I am talking about – well it is basically the biggest photography convention ever, happens once a year in La Vegas, and is filled to the brim with inspiring creative people.

This year not only will I be surrounding myself with some amazing photographer friends but also learning from some of the best in workshops and by listening to platform speeches from some of my photography idols. I am so jazzed its not even funny.

While I have been busting my booty to get myself all caught up with work before leaving, I cant help be be so freaking excited to come back from this trip a little bit changed. As a photographer, I can only hope to be constantly improving, learning new tricks, getting fresh ideas – and this is just the place for it to happen.

So I warn you, when I return be ready. For endless blog posts from photoshoots from workshops, inspiring words I will want to pass along that I learned and of course the infamous BED JUMPING pics my friends do every single year ;)

A family affair , 3 generations of women! Temecula family photography

February 16

When I was 13 I remember a visit to my grandmother’s house in Georgia with my mom and my sisters for a entire week. I would roam through my grandmother’s endless closets, touching her beautiful beaded dresses and endless coats. My grandma would come and hug me and squeeze me every time I walked by her, and my favorite memory? All of us girls crowding into her kitchen at night for my mom and her to make us homemade chocolate milkshakes. It’s funny the things that stick with you from when your young – but those simple moments really defined what a loving relationship is to me. A memory of just us girls being girls of all ages.

All little girls need someone to look up to, and lucky for this beautiful family each generation has someone to inspire the other! So photographing 3 generations of women on a perfect spring day is something I hope will be a memory for them forever too.  Simplicity is often the thing that sticks with us most.

If your a daughter, tell your mom you love her today or share a memory from your childhood – she might be surprised at what was so special to you!

Stadtler women – thank you so much for letting me be a part of your moment!

xoxo
